Repsol-Petronor opens the most powerful electric vehicle charging station in Europe

The facility, located at the Petronor service station of Repsol in Ugaldebieta (Bizcay-Basque Country), on the A-8 motorway, is the first in Europe to enable vehicle charging with 400 kW of power.

It is the second ultra-fast charging point to be opened on the Iberian Peninsula, both at Repsol stations. The first has been in operation from 1 April in Lopidana (Alava-Basque Country).

IBIL, jointly owned by Repsol and the Basque Energy Board (EVE), developed this 100% Spanish-built infrastructure. Ingeteam, suppliers of the charging system, and Ormazabal, responsible for the transformation center, also played a key role.

The charging units at this station guarantee that all the power available at the facility can be distributed optimally between the connected vehicles.

The opening was attended by the Chief Executive Officer of Repsol, Josu Jon Imaz; the Chairman of Ibil, Emiliano López Atxurra, the President of the Regional Council of Biscay, Unai Rementeria; the Mayor of Abanto-Zierbena, Maite Etxebarria; and the General Manager of the Basque Energy Board, Íñigo Ansola.
